My vision for our children is incredibly simple: all students will acquire knowledge and skills and go on to become productive citizens in the workplace and community of the 21st century. My goals for student learning focus on:
Effective learning strategies for students at all performance levels
School readiness for all children
Adequate resources to support and measure student achievement
Sound accounting and budgeting processes
Appropriate fiduciary responsibility over public funds
Meaningful family and community involvement in developing a common vision and shared plan
Prince George's County falls in line with the rest of the country and says, "The time for change is now." Following the national outcry for integrity in Government at all levels, justice has come for a community filled with promise.
Former local school superintendent Andre Hornsby, who was the head of the Prince George's County School system, was sentenced to six years in prison and fined $20,000. Hornsby, convicted on public corruption charges, learned his fate in federal court Tuesday. Hornsby must also pay an additional $70,000 in restitution.
